Die Besch\u00e4ftigung mit dem Medium der Fotografie f\u00fchrte mich Ende der 1980er-Jahre auch in den digitalen Bildraum. Die Begeisterung daf\u00fcr lie\u00df mich deren damalige M\u00f6glichkeiten ausloten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Daraus entstand die bewusst rohe Verarbeitung \u2013 das Sichtbarmachen der digitalen Texturen, der Spuren, die durch das Digitalisieren entstehen. Das Digitale stand nat\u00fcrlich auch als Zeichen der Modernit\u00e4t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualit\u00e4tsverlust eingeplant<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Die damals noch analog aufgenommenen Fotos werden durch die noch in den Kinderschuhen steckenden Consumerelectronics ihrer Bildqualit\u00e4t beraubt.<br>F\u00fcr diese Videosequenz scannte ich ein analog aufgenommenes Foto ein. Die Artefakte in den Schattierungen zeigen die damals noch unzureichende Aufl\u00f6sung beim Scannen. Bei der so entstandenen Bilddatei konnte ich am Computer das Motiv freistellen und den Hintergrund durch einen neuen, in einem Grafikprogramm gezeichneten, ersetzen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading spacingInherit\" style=\"text-transform:none\">Der Mann mit der Kamera<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Das Motiv, die Person, die beim Filmen mit einer Kamera in der Hand zu sehen ist, f\u00fchrte auch zu dem Titel, der an den ber\u00fchmten Regisseur der 1920er-Jahre \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/vertov.filmmuseum.at\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dziga Vertov<\/a> \u2013 erinnert. Der Originaltitel aus dem Jahr 1929 lautet \u201e\u0427\u0435\u043b\u043e\u0432\u0435\u043a \u0441 \u043a\u0438\u043d\u043e\u0430\u043f\u043f\u0430\u0440\u0430\u0442\u043e\u043c\u201d (Der Mann mit der Kamera). Als Anspielung habe ich den Titel \u201eLook at the Man with the Camera\u201d gew\u00e4hlt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bewegung, Geschwindigkeit und optische T\u00e4uschung<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Das Bewegtbild f\u00fchrt zur Auseinandersetzung mit der Geschwindigkeit, die durch die Beschleunigung der Loops und die Verk\u00fcrzung der Zwischentitel nochmals gesteigert wird. Zus\u00e4tzlich erfolgt ein schneller Wechsel zwischen Bild und Schrift, der eine optische T\u00e4uschung \u2013 den Eindruck einer \u00dcberblendung \u2013 hervorruft. Diese Gleichzeitigkeit findet physisch nicht statt. Der Schriftzug \u201eLook at the Man with the Camera\u201d wird so zum verk\u00fcrzten \u201eLook Man Camera\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durch das Abfilmen mit einer Videokamera vom Computermonitor entstehen Artefakte \u2013 die bekannten diagonalen Streifen, die durch die unterschiedlichen Bildwiederholraten hervorgerufen werden. Das Aussehen war einerseits meinen damaligen M\u00f6glichkeiten geschuldet, aber entsprach andererseits der von mir erw\u00fcnschten, anfangs erw\u00e4hnten Vergr\u00f6berung und Sichtbarmachung der digitalen Textur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">Verwendetes Equipment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Analog: Canon AT-1, Ilford FP4<br>Computer: Atari 520ST+, Creator und Artcraft<br>Video VHS: JVC Leihkamera und Sony UX Cassette<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dieses Thema steht an der Schnittstelle zwischen analoger Fotografie, Computerkunst und Video. Es war ein Versuch sich diesen Themen zu n\u00e4hern, ein R\u00fcckblick auf meine digitalen Gestaltungsversuche der 1980er-Jahre.
